How it works
Paste the ciphertext (with the 16-byte tag at the end), the key and the IV — or leave the IV prepended. Decryption only succeeds if the key, IV, additional data and ciphertext are all exactly right: GCM's tag check rejects any modification, which is why a wrong key and tampered data give the same error.
