Atbash Cipher
Encrypt and decrypt text using the Atbash cipher, locally in your browser.
🔒 Your data is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers.
How it works
The Atbash cipher replaces each letter with its opposite letter in the alphabet. A becomes Z, B becomes Y, C becomes X, and so on. The transformation is reversible, so the same operation is used for encryption and decryption.
Examples
Hello → Svool
ABC → Z Y X
Security notes
Atbash is a classical substitution cipher and is not considered secure encryption. It should not be used to protect passwords, confidential information or sensitive data.
FAQ
Is Atbash encryption?
Atbash is a classical cipher, but it does not provide modern cryptographic security.
Is Atbash reversible?
Yes. Applying Atbash twice returns the original text.
Are numbers and punctuation changed?
No. Only letters from A-Z and a-z are transformed.
