How it works
For JPG, PNG and WebP, KadiTools removes the metadata blocks directly from the file structure (JPEG APP segments, PNG chunks, WebP RIFF chunks) — the image data itself is copied byte for byte, so there's zero quality loss. Other formats (HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, AVIF) are re-encoded as PNG or JPG, which also drops all metadata.
The color profile and orientation are kept by default because removing them can change how the photo looks; they contain no personal information.
FAQ
What metadata is removed?
EXIF (camera, date, GPS), XMP, IPTC/Photoshop data, JPEG comments, PNG text chunks and timestamps, embedded thumbnails — and the ICC profile if you untick the option.
Why keep orientation?
Phones save photos sideways and use the orientation tag to display them upright. KadiTools keeps a tiny EXIF block with only that tag.
